3. Group Supervision Program
Supervision is a reflective dialogue facilitated by a professional, trained in an accredited supervision program and qualified as a supervisor. This reflective practice is designed to ensure that the supervisee is delivering their best work in the service of their clients, organizations, and stakeholders.
Both the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) regard supervision as an essential component of professional development.
The ICF describes supervision as "a collaborative learning practice to continually build the capacity of the coach through reflective dialogue for the benefit of both coaches and clients."
The EMCC defines it as "a safe space for reflective dialogue with a practicing supervisor, supporting the supervisee’s practice, development, and well-being." Additionally, the EMCC sees supervision as "a form of professional support for the practitioner that occurs separately from interactions with the client. It is primarily a dialogue about their practice, providing an opportunity to reflect on and make sense of actual client encounters."
In our group supervision conversation, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your work and the work of other participants from any or all of the following three perspectives:
Normative - As an ethical practitioner, you will consider how you adhere to your professional standards.
Formative - You will explore the impact that you, as a person, have on your professional role (coach, mentor, supervisor, leader).
Restorative – You will examine the impact of your work on yourself, as a human being.
The advantage of group supervision is that each supervisee will benefit from the input of others, in addition to the guidance of the supervisor.
My role, as supervisor is to engage the collective intelligence of the group for the highest benefit of each participant.
